Manuscripts
The Jews of Libya were a religiously observant community. Many manuscripts were written by scholarly members of the community; few are available and little is know about them. Manuscripts were often written in Judeo-Arabic, using the Hebrew alphabet with local Jewish-Arabic words. At some religious celebrations (the Passover seder, for example) both Hebrew and the vernacular were used.
